July 2025 Wine Club

Sun-Drenched Sips from Spain

It’s officially too hot to overthink things, this month’s Wine Club is all about wines (and a spritz!) that make easy summer drinking feel like second nature. We're headed to Spain, where Daniel Ramos is producing beautifully expressive Garnacha and skin-contact whites in the mountainous region of Sierra de Gredos, and where a canned vermouth spritz from La Lata is redefining what warm-weather refreshment can be.

These bevs belong on your back porch, beside live music, or anywhere the mood is “let’s just pop something cold and good.” Whether you're diving into a bottle, or sipping straight from the can of your new favorite riverside drink—this lineup is here to beat the heat.

1) Daniel Ramos, berrakin Blanco, El Tiemblo, Spain

Wine: Orange // Grapes: 100% Jaén Blanco // Club: Vin de Soif & Cork Dork

About the Producer: Daniel Ramos and his partner Pepi San Juan are champions of the Sierra de Gredos region, working organically and by lunar cycles in their vineyards, and embracing low-intervention methods in the cellar. Their wines are always terroir-driven, but never too serious—and the Berrakin line is their answer to natural wines that are fun, drinkable, and still true to place.

About the Wine: This skin-contact white (aka orange wine) is made from a local grape called Jaén Blanco, not to be confused with Portugal’s red Jaen, and fermented on the skins for over a month in stainless steel. It’s got orchard stone fruit for days (peach! apricot!), balanced by orange peel, wild herbs, and a surprising lift on the finish. The texture is grippy in the best way, and the acid keeps it lively. Serve it chilled and let it open up, it’s as layered as a midsummer sunset.

As we like to say during our visits, we are very selfish. This is because we only make the wines we love: Terroir Driven Wines.
— Daniel Ramos

2) Daniel Ramos, El berrakin Tinto, El Tiemblo, Spain

Wine: Red // Grapes: Garnacha & Jaén // Club: Vin de Soif & Cork Dork

About the Wine: Same Daniel, different vibe. This red comes from old bush vines growing in granitic soils at high elevation, and like all of his wines, it's fermented with native yeasts and bottled without fining or filtering. The El Berrakin Tinto is meant to show off Garnacha’s more playful side—still complex, but made for a second (or third) glass. This is Garnacha as its juiciest self with dusty black cherries, dark raspberry, mountain herbs, and just a touch of summery spice. It’s earthy, expressive, and somehow both rustic and elegant. A little air brings out even more flavor, so don’t be afraid to give it a swirl or a chill. Pair it with grilled veggies, salty snacks, or absolutely nothing at all.

With La Lata, our goal is to take you on a virtual trip through our native country with every can you open.
— Álvaro de la Viña and Ana González, La Lata

3) La Lata, Vermujito, Wine Spritz, Veneto, Spain

Dry Vermouth Spritz // Ingredients: Organic Vermouth and Grapefruit Juice // Club: Cork Dork ONLY

About the Producer: La Lata is a project born from nostalgia, inspired by the sherry cocktails sipped during the Feria de Abril in Sevilla. This time, the team took an amontillado-based vermouth from Bodegas Robles, aromatized it with herbs, spices, and botanicals, and then blended it with real grapefruit juice. No concentrates, no added sugar, just good ingredients and a very good idea.

About the Wine: Meet your new beach buddy. Vermujito is the slightly bitter, citrusy, very crushable cousin of a Rebujito—with a dry, complex edge that keeps it grown-up. It’s refreshing and deeply herbal, like sipping something between an aperitivo and a summer cocktail. Serve it over ice with a dried orange slice... or crack the can and take it to the lake. Either way, it’s Christmas in July.
